Welcome new Staff members Jess and Javier!

We’re pleased to welcome two new Staff members to the Foundation! Jess Nordman has joined as our new grants management associate, and Javier Sampedro as our director of communications.

Jess Nordman
Jess Nordman joined us as a grant management associate on May 14. She has an early childhood education degree and nine years of experience teaching preschool in the Twin Cities, predominantly at Way to Grow. For the last five years, she has worked in administrative and data roles at local nonprofits such as Nacel Open Door and Trellis, where she developed an interest in grant management.

Jess lives in south Minneapolis with her two cats, Dogberry and Yorick. She is also a proud aunt of four nephews. In her spare time, Jess enjoys listening to an absurd number of audiobooks, going for walks and attending concerts.

Javier Sampedro
Javier Sampedro is our director of communications at the Carlson Family Foundation. With over 15 years of experience, Javier is passionate about turning complex ideas into engaging stories. His background includes leading creative teams and crafting communication strategies for big names like Optum.

Javier is dedicated to creating meaningful digital experiences and works hard to ensure every message counts. When he’s not busy with communications, he enjoys spending time with his three teenagers, exploring the lakes, gardening or indulging in creative endeavors.

Javier holds a master’s degree in communications and a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He’s excited to bring his expertise and creativity to help advance the Foundation’s mission.
