Malala Yousafzai to discuss girls’ access to education for Distinguished Carlson Lecture Series
Nobel Peace Prize laureate, author and global youth advocate Malala Yousafzai will be the next speaker in the Distinguished Carlson Lecture Series, a forum that brings world-renowned speakers to Minnesota to discuss the most important and relevant policy issues of the day.
Yousafzai will discuss her ongoing campaign to improve girls’ access to education with Star Tribune reporter Faiza Mahamud on Feb. 1, 2022, at noon CST. The event will be virtual.
About Malala Yousafzai
At 15 years old, Yousafzai was shot by the Taliban for publicly speaking out against their attempts to prevent girls from going to school. Since recovering, she has become internationally known for her resiliency and fierce advocacy for education and youth voices. In 2013, she founded the Malala Fund to further this work. The next year, she was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for championing access to education for all children. In 2020, Yousafzai received her degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from Oxford University.
The Distinguished Carlson Lecture is presented by the Humphrey School of Public Affairs with support from Carlson and the Carlson Family Foundation.
